The Pygmalion Effect

The beliefs and expectations our peers, family members and teachers have of us can have an effect on our performance. In this way, beliefs can become self-fulfilling prophecies. They can create reality.

In Psychology, this is called the Pygmalion effect. And even though recent studies suggest the statistical strength may be weaker than originally thought, it's still worth considering the impact our expectations can have on other people.
